Baby Showers And The Queen Of Pop

Today was a welcome break from serving snacks to my family of football fanatics... they all love the game and get way too emotionally involved. The next ten years of my life has been foreshadowed for me in the last several weeks as each weekend all the boys gather together to watch the big game, ( I should say games) down in the basement. I function merely as a waitress that they abuse by yelling "MORE SNACKS, mom!"

Not today. I got to play 100% girl and co-hosted a baby shower for my friend who is expecting in a couple of weeks. I kicked all the boys out, made homemade mushroom madeira soup with leeks... (I had heard of those before but never had cooked with them. You don't need them when you make nachos).

Anyway, I got all the stuff that I never use out and had lots of fun.






Deep down, underneath my effort to project a tom-boy persona and deny that I am a "closet crafter" I like doing the shower thing.

Tonight, I head out to an 80's decade birthday party where dressing up is mandatory. I started out thinking I could be Eddie Van Halen or Def Leppard. I'm going as Madonna - circa 1984 Lucky Star video. I know I'm too old for this.

I should have asked WHY he wanted the zip lock bags...
